Spring 2024 Sectional Championships and Regional/State Championships

As teams win their sectional championships and advance to the state tournaments, HSSS will make every effort to schedule their next round games.

Coaches can continue to post final scores as before and enter stats for their players through the state championship.

HSSS has limited information when opponents are announced, and sometime my sources of information lag in time. Feel free to email me if you have knowledge of regional opponents, game dates, sites, and locations. Anyone with a link to a team roster and would like to email me and share, that would be great! HSSS will do their best to keep up and post schedules for regional and state games.

Sectional Seeding in Baseball, Softball, Lacrosse, and Tennis

On Sunday and Monday 5/19-20, Section III committees will seed Spring 2024 sectional tournaments at the seeding meetings. The tournament brackets, once approved by the committees, will be released.

Coaches: Be sure that your games have all been accounted for, that your schedules (with changes from weather related reasons) have been updated and all complete games have a final score recorded and saved.

Sectional Participants - Your schedules will be updated to include your next games, and you don't have to create new games. After your sectional games, just enter your results has you always have, and once the next game has both participants set, the game will appear on your schedule. Teams advancing to Regionals and States, HSSS will create the next games for you to continue to report your scores and statistics for your players.

Tennis INDs and DBLs. Your results will be recorded and posted on the brackets. Links will be made available on your sport's front page.

Good luck to all in the 2024 Spring Sectional Tournament.

The Bradley-Terry Model for Seeding Spring 2024 is Now Activated

By the agreement of the Athletic Council in Section III and the sports of Baseball and Softball, the spring 2024 sectional seeding for the tournaments will use the Bradley-Terry Predictive Seeding Model (BTM). High School Sport Stats provides this model and can update the averages as coaches enter their game results each night.

BTM averages take into account one teams game result vs. another team but will also compare that result to all other teams played on both schedules and on down the line back to the start of the season. Giving consideration to strength of schedules for all teams in Section III, the model will return an average based on the likely hood a team will prevail in its next game on the schedule.

The Spring Sectional Tournament will be seeded by the BTM, and again we encourage all coaches to enter their game results ASAP on game days. HSSS recalculates their average every 3 minutes.

Active as of 10AM 5/1/24.

Coaches: Spring Weather Game Reschedules

Coaches, after many cancellations this past week due to spring weather, please update your schedules in your Coach Tools as your games are moved to new dates and times.

You can use the green calendar tool to reschedule a game that has been "cancelled" (PPD) to indicate a game is rescheduled from one date to another, or you can simply edit the event and show the new date and time.

This takes about 2 seconds and communicates to the media and community that your game will not be played. I can also have an impact on fans and families traveling to a game and coaches planning to attend to scout.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to HSSS.

Thank you.

Coaches: Spring Weather Leading to Cancellations

If the early Spring weather causes your game to be cancelled (PPD), remember that you can use the red calendar feature in your Coach Tools to indicate that the game for that day is cancelled (PPD),

You can use the green calendar tool to reschedule that game as soon as a date and time are determined.
